The Faculty of Legal Studies Programme is designed to turn out graduates in Law who will use their knowledge of Law for social engineering. In teaching the law, students are exposed not only to acquire the techniques, skills and knowledge of the principles and rules of the substantive laws in action, but also to know the scope and functions of the law which they may be called upon in the future to interpret and administer.
Accordingly, the Faculty is organized under four departments namely:
1. Department of Commercial Law and Property.
2. Department of International Law, Jurisprudence and Legal Theory.
3. Department of Private law
4. Department of Public Law
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be qualified for admission, candidates must possess the senior Secondary School Certificate or an ‘O’ level certificate with credit passes in five (5) subjects, including English Language and English Literature obtained in not more than two sittings. At least one of the credits must be in a science subject or the candidates must have a pass in Mathematics. Such a candidate must also have an acceptable pass in the University Matriculation Examination (UME).
