SCHOOL OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES
History
In 1995, the Senate of the University established the College of Postgraduate Studies (CPGS). However, when the University abandoned the unwieldy collegiate system to embrace the more focused faculty structure in the 2001/2002 academic session, the College of Postgraduate Studies became the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) with the status of a Faculty.
Applications for admission into the school of postgraduate studies are drawn partly from graduates of the University and those from other Universities. Presently, students are enrolled in various Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Masters and Doctorate Degree programmes.
The School of Postgraduate Board
The school is headed by a Dean but the day-to-day administration is performed by the Secretary of the School. The School is under the control of the School Board with the Vice-Chancellor as the Statutory Chairman of the Board. According to the 2000 ‘Prospectus’ of the School, other members of the Board are:
1. The Vice-Chancellor
2. The Dean SPGS)
3. The Associate Dean (SPGS)

Recommendations, suggestions and decision about Postgraduate Studies are sent from these Postgraduate Committees to the School of Postgraduate Studies for final disposal action or for consideration and transmission to the University Senate.
