The faculty aims to train students in the practical application of their knowledge to human development and to equip them for further studies in the discipline. Students will be engaged in teaching, research, outreach and creative production in the humanities and education in an environment in which individuals can develop the human values, linguistic competence and professional skills and activities that are relevant to the needs of the region. The university strives to train high-level Humanities students by ensuring that the teaching programmes are internationally competitive and locally relevant, producing outstanding teaching and research outputs in the Humanities by employing the best possible academics and supporting staff and developing /utilising them to their full potential, applying management principles, guidelines, processes and practices to maintain and improve excellent academic achievements in the field of teaching and research, ensuring that by our achievements and services, values are strived at to the benefit of the individual. The University and the community we serve, significantly enrich students with the unique added values offered by studies in the Humanities.
The Faculty of Humanities is made up of five departments as follows:

4. History and International Studies
5. Linguistics and Igbo Studies
6. Theatre Arts

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission into any department is through the University Matriculation Examination (UME) with credit passes in five WASSCE, SSCE/GCE ‘O’ level subjects including English Language, History, Government, Literature in English and French for candidates who opt for the French department and also Igbo for those who opt for linguistics and Igbo studies.
