Introduction
The Department of Mass Communication in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Imo State University, offers a 4-year Bachelor’s degree programme in Mass Communication. It is one of those in the country currently providing training to students who possess the required ability and aptitude.
Philosophy and Objectives
To provide a specialized, distinctive and qualitative undergraduate education to students, so as to enable them cope with the demands elicited by the professionalization of modern day journalism and Mass Communication and their sister discipline, such as Advertising, Public Relations, Performing Arts, etc. to train scholars and professionals who will help to keep broadening the frontiers of knowledge and scholarship in this field of study.
To provide the stepping stone of postgraduates studies in Mass Communication and other related disciplines.
Admission Requirements
Candidates wishing to be admitted into the Mass Communication programme much pass the University Matriculation Examination (UME) conducting by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
UME Entrance Examination candidates much possess five GCE (ordinary level) or WASC subjects passed at credit levels in not more than two sittings. Literatures plus a minimum of pass (P.7) in Mathematics.
