INAUGURAL LECTURES DELIVERED AT THE IMO STATE UNIVERSITY, OWERRI, NIGERIA

An inaugural lecture is meant to be an initiation ceremony; a forum for a newly appointed professor (Chair) to make a vow to his profession by giving an inaugural address. When there were few of such appointments the inauguration usually took place shortly after the appointment.
